Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy my briquettes from?

You can buy directly from us via our website or direct from a Briquette.co.nz stockist.

What is untreated timber or sawdust?

We exclusively use untreated timber sawdust meaning it hasn’t gone through any treatment processes. The shaving and dust are from natural timbers that have been dried naturally (sun or kiln) and have zero chemicals applied to them.

How much do Briquettes cost?

Cost will vary depending how much you buy. We love to reward customers who support our product, so we continually offer volume and loyalty-based deals on a regular basis. Please subscribe to our website an be the first to know about any hot deals.

How many Briquettes do I need for a good fire?

This is very much a personal choice as the more logs you burn at once, the more heat you generate. That said, for a good heat we normally use 3-4 logs for good heat and a long-lasting fire.

A Briquette log might be too big for my Barbecue. Can I get a smaller one?

This is such a good question and shows one of the great features of our product. We are aware that Barbecues come in all shapes and sizes so if you pick up 2 Briquette logs and hit them in the middle at 90 degrees, you should be able to break them in half. Please don’t be scared to give it a good whack as they are meant to be solid (and watch out the 2 pieces don’t land on your toes… that might hurt!).

Can I use Briquettes on my gas Barbeque?

Great safety question. The short answer is no! A Briquette can only be used in a woodburning Barbeque.

How do I ignite my briquette?

Like starting any fire, you will need to add a bit of kindling or a fire starter to get your fire going.

Are briquettes safe to use?

Yes, they are, but it is important to be very careful when starting a fire as accidents can happen. Always apply common sense safety precautions to avoid accidents.

How effective are briquettes?

Very. Watch this video where Western Springs Pumphouse tests using briquettes instead of coal for power. The results speak for themselves, and they now use briquettes instead of coal.
